Fall 2026

AI student guide resources for your fall 2026 courses - 8/17/2026 New

Dear Colleague,

Welcome back! I hope you had an enjoyable and restorative summer and are as excited for the start of the Fall semester semester as I am. As you prepare for your fall course(s), I wanted to share several resources available through 麻豆精品’s Student Guide to AI that you may find valuable for your students.

Over the summer, we expanded the guide with new Human Wisdom for the Age of AI resources designed to help students reflect on and strengthen the uniquely human capabilities that remain essential in an AI-enabled world, including critical thinking, ethical judgment, creativity, communication, adaptability, and responsible decision-making. These resources complement 麻豆精品's broader efforts to support AI literacy while reinforcing the importance of human judgment and academic integrity.

In addition to the student-facing materials, a companion Faculty Guide includes discussion prompts, reflection activities, and instructional ideas that can be adapted for a variety of disciplines, course formats, and learning objectives.

You are welcome to share these resources directly with students, incorporate them into course discussions, reference them in your syllabus, or use them as part of activities related to AI literacy, digital citizenship, workforce readiness, or responsible technology use.

Resources

As AI continues to evolve, we remain committed to helping students develop both the technical understanding and the human wisdom needed to learn, work, lead, and thrive in an increasingly AI-enabled world.

Thank you for all you do to support student success, and best wishes for a successful fall semester.

Best,

Jason Rhode
Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and Lifelong Learning

Blackboard access for new hires - 7/28/2026

Department Chairs and School Directors:

For new hires that may be awaiting the processing of hiring paperwork and activation of their 麻豆精品 Account ID necessary to access Blackboard, we continue to have a technical solution in place that allows for new hires to receive access to their Blackboard courses for the upcoming semester using a temporary guest Blackboard ID associated with their personal email address. With this temporary Blackboard guest ID, new hires are able to login to access their fall Blackboard course(s) to develop and begin teaching as needed until their employee 麻豆精品 Account ID is activated and they've been assigned as instructor of record in My麻豆精品. They then will be able to transition to using their activated employee ID and password to login to their Blackboard course(s) without any need to transfer any course content or settings.

If you have any new hires for fall who are still awaiting their employee Account IDs for Blackboard access or who have yet to be assigned their course(s) in My麻豆精品, please reply back to me or submit using the Blackboard Ask A Question Form the following for each new hire who still needs Blackboard access so we can expedite creation of temporary accounts: first name, last name, contact email, course(s) assigned to teach for fall (include course number and section). Upon receipt we will promptly ensure they receive access to their course(s) and follow-up individually with each to provide them their login details.

Registration is open for the 2026 Teaching Assistant Institute - 7/1/2026

Department Chairs and School Directors:

To assist departments in planning efforts as we approach the Fall 2026 semester, I wanted to share the following dates of the Teaching Assistant Institute offered by the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning to welcome new graduate teaching assistants.

Similar to years prior, this fall’s Teaching Assistant Institute will be a two-week-long event, from August 10 through the 21, featuring a mix of live online discussions and pre-recorded videos as well as asynchronous activities to promote connection and community. The first week of the Institute will be fully asynchronous, and the second week will include synchronous online sessions and an optional in-person networking event. While some of the pre-recorded videos will be standard for all TAs participating in the Institute, each TA will also be able to choose from a selection of elective videos based on their experience and role. Topics will include cultural competency and inclusive teaching, engaging students, and resources at 麻豆精品 to support teaching and learning.

TAs will need to attend all three live online discussions (or watch the recordings) and watch the five required core videos and at least three elective asynchronous videos to receive a certificate of completion. We will track attendance in live sessions and views on the videos for departments that require TAs to complete the Institute. Completing the Institute is also a requirement for TAs to receive the offered through CITL.

Live online discussions will be held on Monday, August 17, Tuesday, August 18, and Thursday, August 20 from 9-10:30 AM on Zoom (all synchronous sessions will be live captioned and recorded). Departments that conduct their own training for TAs can integrate the live sessions within their training schedule. The page has more details and information on how to register as well as the synchronous sessions schedule.

Please share this information and link above with your directors of graduate studies and graduate teaching assistants.

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Jason Rhode, Associate Vice Provost for Teaching, Learning, and Digital Education

New AI student guide resources available for summer courses - 6/12/2026

Dear Colleague,

As you prepare for your summer course(s), I wanted to share several new resources that have been added to the Student Guide to AI that you may find useful for your students.

We've recently launched a new Human Wisdom for the Age of AI field guide and accompanying Human Wisdom Self-Assessment Tool designed to help students reflect on and develop essential human capabilities—including critical thinking, ethical judgment, creativity, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making—in an increasingly AI-enabled world.

To support classroom use, there is also available a new Faculty Guide that includes discussion prompts, reflection activities, and lesson plan ideas that can be adapted for a variety of disciplines and course formats.

You are welcome to share these resources with your students or incorporate them into course discussions and activities related to AI, digital literacy, professional preparation, and responsible technology use.

Resources

We hope these resources help students engage thoughtfully with AI while developing the uniquely human strengths that will continue to be essential for learning, work, leadership, and civic life.

Best regards,

Jason Rhode
