Class Collaborate will no longer be available as of August 8, 2026

In an effort to reduce expense to the university, the Class Collaborate web conferencing tool will not be renewed. It will no longer be available as of August 8, 2026. Check out our guide to Transitioning from Collaborate for tips on using Zoom or Microsoft Teams as alternatives for synchronous teaching.

Key points:

• Summer courses may use Collaborate.
• Fall courses and beyond will need to use Microsoft Teams or Zoom for web conferencing.
  • Both Teams and Zoom have Blackboard integrations for scheduling session and accessing recordings in the Content Market.
  • Features lost: Neither Teams nor Zoom can automatically record attendance in Blackboard; they cannot use Blackboard Groups for breakout sessions.
• Recordings will be deleted as of August 8, 2026; they can be downloaded for archival purposes and uploaded to Kaltura for ongoing use.
  • All Collaborate recordings will be archived by DoIT. Should a recording be needed, please with the course and (if possible) the date of the recording(s) to be retrieved.
