Fall 2026 Online Waiver is Currently Open

Once you receive a response from announcements@niu.edu confirming that the student insurance has been added to your account, you may submit a waiver.

Please Read Before Waiving

• You can only submit the waiver one time. Accuracy is very important.
• The waiver site is secure and will time out after a period of inactivity. To avoid delays, please have all your insurance information ready before you begin. You must also upload clear images of both the front and back of your insurance card to complete the waiver.
• You will receive almost immediately a confirmation email from UHCSR accepting or denying your waiver. Make sure and open this email to confirm. If you are denied contact our office before trying the appeal.
• The waiver must be completed, submitted and approved, for the charge to be removed from your account.
• When completing the waiver, you must answer all questions regarding your current insurance policy and agree (yes) to each one. If you do not, your waiver will be instantly denied.
• We highly recommend that you complete this waiver before September 20. Errors do occur, and these also must be corrected and approved before the firm deadline of Sept. 30.
• Do not delay; waive today. If you do not waive by default, you will be enrolled.

To ensure fairness and compliance, the established guidelines are applied uniformly to all students. Northern Illinois University’s requirements must be followed and exceptions cannot be granted.
