Presidential Commissions now accepting new members.
The seeks nominations for individuals to serve on the . These commissions play a critical role in advising the President and provide an opportunity to engage the relevant expertise and multiple perspectives of faculty, students and staff to promote problem solving, innovation and change in pursuit of Âé¶¹¾«Æ·â€™s mission, vision and values. The commissions support the university’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible Huskie community where individuals feel welcome and experience a profound sense of belonging. Accordingly, we seek nominations for individuals with interests, experiences, or expertise related to the commissions’ work to enrich their efforts and ensure that their recommendations reflect the diverse viewpoints of the Huskie community.
To nominate someone or self-nominate, please complete the , which seeks general information and a brief statement of interest by Friday, May 17, 2024. The Commission review panel will evaluate all nominations, and the nominees will receive an email notification before the fall semester starts.

UWC’S Summer Writing and Research Program
Monday through Thursday June 17 to July 31, 2024
At HASC University Writing Center, we know that completing your thesis, dissertation or research is important to you. We also know that it can be an isolating and overwhelming process. Our 2024 Summer Writing and Research Program will help you reach your goals. Using video and chat features, we'll support your research and writing by providing
- Presentations: 45-minute brown bag session on writing, research and aspects of graduate school.
- Writing Groups: A daily writing group to start each day strong, plus smaller groups to maximize your weekly output with accountability partners at a time that works for you.
- Writing Support: Guidance and one-on-one attention from writing consultants who care about your success.
- Collaboration: Opportunities to interact with peers on similar research journeys.

Activities are offered on Monday through Thursday, June 17 to July 31, 2024. You can attend any or all activities.

Prepare now to get the classes you need.
Now is the time to start preparing to register for summer and fall 2024 classes. While registration opens on April 1, your registration date may vary based upon the number of credits you have earned. Read the tips below and learn when to register and how to register for classes.
1. If you have not met with your advisor, do so. They are here to help you.
- It’s important to stay on track to graduation and your advisor is here to help ensure you are heading in the right direction.
- Remote advising is available. Options for remote advising could include virtual video conferences, phone calls, Âé¶¹¾«Æ· emails or IM chats. Schedule an advising appointment through by clicking Appointments and selecting the "Advising" service, or contact your academic advising office to learn more about your options.
- Come prepared to your meeting with any concerns that you have. Your advisor can help answer your questions and point you to available resources.
2. Log in to MyÂé¶¹¾«Æ· and Navigate Student.
- In , you can check your enrollment date—the date and time you are able to register for classes.
- In Navigate Student, you can see a list of important, time-sensitive To-Do items related to class registration. You can also schedule an appointment with your academic advisor through Navigate Student by click on Appointments and selecting the "Advising" service.
- In both MyÂé¶¹¾«Æ· and Navigate Student, you can see any holds on your account that may prevent you from registering for classes. Learn more about holds on student accounts.

Move Forward Faster with UNIV 301
Fall 2024 Registration begins April 1. If you’re looking to get ready for your career or graduate school, consider taking UNIV 301: Braven Leadership and Career Accelerator, a 3-credit elective course taught by Leadership Coaches working in a variety of industries. As mentors, they provide you with valuable feedback and insights, so you’re better prepared for your future after Âé¶¹¾«Æ·.
Nearly 800 Huskies have enrolled in UNIV 301 since it first launched in Fall 2022 and the course will be offered in three sections in the fall. Talk to your advisor and enroll for Fall 2024 via MyÂé¶¹¾«Æ· during registration.
Benefits of the course include:
- Small class size. You’ll be on a team with 5-8 other Huskies from a variety of majors.
- Completely online and once-a-week. You’ll meet with your Leadership Coach and teammates once a week online either Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m. or 5:30-7:30 p.m. or Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Career exploration and preparation. You’ll develop a professional portfolio, including strong interview skills, a competitive resume and a professional Linked In profile.
- Hands-on learning with leading companies. You’ll work with your teammates on creating solutions for real companies and real clients in Chicagoland and beyond.
- Long-lasting support. Once you complete the Braven Accelerator course you’ll be paired with a mentor who will continue to support you throughout your academic and professional career planning.
