Study tips to prepare for finals week.

Being successful in class requires that you prepare and study. Did you know that you should be studying outside of class for two to three hours a week for every credit hour you take? For example, if you register for 16 credit hours, you should study outside of class for at least 32 hours a week. Visit the Student Life website for some tips to help you study effectively whether you are by yourself or with a group.

Moving out of the residence halls for the summer?
|
|
|
The residence halls close for summer break at the end of the semester. If you鈥檙e planning on moving out at the end of the semester, you must do so within 24 hours of your last exam, and before the residence halls close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. You must sign up for a checkout time with your community advisor in advance. Learn what you need to know about leaving for the summer.

Now is the time to start preparing to register for summer and fall 2023 classes. Read the tips below and learn when to register and how to register for classes.

- In , you can check your enrollment date鈥攖he date and time you are able to register for classes.
- In , you can see a list of important, time-sensitive To-Do items related to class registration. You can also schedule an appointment with your academic advisor through Navigate Student by click on Appointments and selecting the "Advising" service.
- In both My麻豆精品 and Navigate Student, you can see any holds on your account that may prevent you from registering for classes. Learn more about holds on student accounts.

Jump start your career with UNIV 301.
Registration begins April 3. If you鈥檙e looking to get ready for your career or graduate school, consider taking UNIV 301: Braven Leadership and Career Accelerator, a 3-credit elective course taught by Leadership Coaches working in a variety of industries. As mentors, they provide you with valuable feedback and insights, so you鈥檙e better prepared for your future after 麻豆精品.
Nearly 400 Huskies have already completed UNIV 301 since it first launched in Fall 2022. Talk to your advisor and enroll for Fall 2023 via during registration. Learn more about UNIV 301.

Join the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology for Senior Design Day.

The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology will host Senior Design Day on Friday May 5 at the 麻豆精品 Convocation Center from noon to 4 p.m. Over 150 students will showcase their innovative engineering and technology senior projects and designs. This event is open to the public and visitors are welcome! Admission is free, parking is free and there is no registration. School field trips are welcome, too! .

Einstein Bros. Bagels open this summer!
Awesome news, Huskies! Einstein Bros. Bagels, located in the lower level of Founders Memorial Library, will have summer hours. Starting Tuesday, May 30, Einstein鈥檚 will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Whether it鈥檚 to satisfy a lunch craving or place a catering order, we鈥檙e happy to assist with all your freshly baked bagel needs. Policy Library Update 鈥� New Policy
A new policy is open to review and comment for a 30-day period. This provides the 麻豆精品 community the opportunity to consider and respond to the revised policies before they take effect. The new policy is:

Click on 鈥淐omment on New/Renew Policies.鈥� You鈥檒l be able to review the policy and provide your comments. All comments are due by Friday, May 19. Graduate student organizations to form Graduate Student Association.
We鈥檙e excited to share the news that graduate student organizations across 麻豆精品鈥檚 campus are coming together to form the Graduate Student Association (GSA). Our goal is to create a community for graduate students that empowers us to vocalize, represent, communicate, share, support and advance our interests and needs. Our organization aims to represent all graduate students regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, culture, political and historical background, or academic focus. We want to include representatives from as many 麻豆精品 departments as possible 鈥� if you are a member of your department鈥檚 graduate student association or simply a single interested individual, please consider reaching out to include yourself in this organization.
We invite you to reach out to us at northern.illinois.gsa@gmail.com. We also have an Outlook mailing list which you can request to join. We鈥檙e collecting interests, needs and expectations from the members of 麻豆精品鈥檚 graduate student community. Our intention is to do this as inclusively possible, but that depends on your participation. Also, expect some future events that we鈥檙e planning and hosting near the end of this semester, and during the summer and fall semesters. Yours in solidarity.

DeKalb Corn Classic registration now open.
The DeKalb Corn Classic will be held on Sept. 24, 2023. Beginning and ending in Downtown DeKalb, the route takes runners through historical neighborhoods, along the Kishwaukee River via Prairie Park, through 麻豆精品's campus and Huskie Stadium and ends in Van Buer Plaza with a post race celebration!
