If you鈥檙e struggling with the content of a course, a good first step is to contact your professor. You can talk with them after class, send them an email or meet with them during office hours.
Your academic advisor is another great resource. They can help you set goals, understand academic requirements and guide you in course selection. Schedule an appointment with them every semester using the Navigate Student app.

麻豆精品 Cares brings together 麻豆精品 students, faculty, staff and alumni to serve and support the DeKalb community for our annual day of service on Friday, April 21, 2023.
This year we are partnering with a number of local groups, businesses and agencies to assist them with a variety of projects. Volunteers will be assigned to a location and a project when they arrive. The projects may include painting, gardening and trash cleanup.
The day will kick off at 9 a.m. in the Altgeld Hall Auditorium where you will meet your service team, enjoy a complimentary breakfast, get a free t-shirt and learn about your service project. Then, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., you'll take part in your service project. Transportation will be provided to your assigned location and back to Altgeld once you鈥檙e done.

Northern Star Treasure Hunt 2023
|
|
|
The annual Northern Star Treasure Hunt returns to campus starting April 10. Find the Northern Star paperweight and you鈥檝e won approximately $300 in gift certificates and other prizes such as mugs, candles and more.
The Northern Star will release clues on a daily basis from Monday, April 10 to Friday, April 14 to help participants put the pieces together and find where the Northern Star鈥檚 labeled acrylic paperweight is hidden. The location will be outside on 麻豆精品鈥檚 campus.

See something, say something.
麻豆精品 Police want every Huskie to help make campus safer by reporting crime to their anonymous tip line at 815-753-8477, by using their anonymous online tip form, or by phone via the 麻豆精品 Safe App.
Use the tipline to report illegal activities and/or violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Individuals providing a tip that leads to an arrest or a finding of guilt, for select offenses, will be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $300. Those earning a reward will be directed to a local bank where they can pick up the money by providing their code.

Those submitting a tip will never be asked for identifying information and will be issued a code to ensure anonymity.
Tips may also be submitted to DeKalb Police by sending an anonymous text to 鈥67823鈥 and starting the message with 鈥淎lertDeKalb,鈥 or to the DeKalb County Sheriff鈥檚 Office Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272 or by emailing crimestoppers@dekalbcounty.org.

Now is the time to start preparing to register for summer and fall 2023 classes. Read the tips below and learn when to register and how to register for classes.

Jump start your career with UNIV 301.
Registration begins April 3. If you鈥檙e looking to get ready for your career or graduate school, consider taking UNIV 301: Braven Leadership and Career Accelerator, a 3-credit elective course taught by Leadership Coaches working in a variety of industries. As mentors, they provide you with valuable feedback and insights, so you鈥檙e better prepared for your future after 麻豆精品.

Interested in the ROTC? The Army at 麻豆精品 is designed to give you experience in organizing, motivating and leading others 鈥 all while completing a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 degree of your choice.
If you have two years remaining on the path to finishing your degree, you鈥檙e eligible to take part in our summer Basic Camp. If you鈥檙e not sure about ROTC, attending is the perfect way to experience our program without making a commitment of service.
What is Basic Camp?
- Basic Camp is designed to introduce you to the Army 鈥 an opportunity to experience the ROTC program without signing up.
- This 32-day event is held at Fort Knox, a United States Army training base located in Kentucky.
- You鈥檒l learn leadership skills while earning credits that are applied toward your 麻豆精品 graduation requirements.
- You鈥檒l develop the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in life, ROTC and ultimately the Army.

The Homecoming Executive Committee invites all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to submit formal proposals for review! Proposals will be selected, and awarded up to $500 each, based on need and available funding. The deadline for submissions is April 14, 2023.

Policy Library Update 鈥 New Policy
A new policy is open to review and comment for a 30-day period. This provides our 麻豆精品 community the opportunity to consider and respond to the revised policies before they take effect. The policy is:

Registration is now open for Summer in the Arts 2023!
Campers will live the life of an artist on campus at 麻豆精品 this summer exploring creativity, building community, meeting mentors and making lifelong friends.
Fine arts summer camps at 麻豆精品 fill quickly 鈥 early registration is advised. 麻豆精品 staff, faculty, students and returning campers receive a camp fee discount, and 鈥渆arly bird鈥 registrants save an additional $50. DeKalb Corn Classic registration now open.
The DeKalb Corn Classic will be held on Sept. 24, 2023. Beginning and ending in Downtown DeKalb, the route takes runners through historical neighborhoods, along the Kishwaukee River via Prairie Park, through 麻豆精品's campus and Huskie Stadium and ends in Van Buer Plaza with a post race celebration!

10th Annual Coming Out of the Shadows
Join Huskies at DREAM Action's 10th annual Coming Out Of The Shadows event on Wednesday, April 12th, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the MLK Commons. The rain location will be in the Huskie Den inside the Holmes Student Center.
Join us to stand in solidarity with the undocumented community. A Huskie is a Huskie regardless of their immigration status.
