Being successful in class requires that you prepare and study. Did you know that you should be studying outside of class for two to three hours a week for every credit hour you take? For example, if you register for 16 credit hours, you should study outside of class for at least 32 hours a week. Visit our Student Life website for tips to help you study effectively whether you are by yourself or in a group.

麻豆精品 Career Services' All-Majors Internship and Job Fair provides an opportunity for students to connect with employers for internships and full-time, part-time and student employment positions. LinkedIn professional headshots, taken by a photographer from 麻豆精品 Communications, will be available at no charge during the hours of the career fair.

Calling all Huskie musicians! Were you part of the band, choir or orchestra in high school, and do you find yourself missing that musical experience? Or are you perhaps looking to learn something entirely new? At our School of Music, all ensembles are open to all students regardless of major. While some ensembles require an audition, several are open enrollment including University Chorus, All-University Steel Band and select world music ensembles.

Ellington's Restaurant opens Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Huskies! Be sure to mark your calendars! Ellington鈥檚 Restaurant reopens its doors Tuesday, Oct. 10. Each week, BADM 303 students create and prepare themed meals for you, your friends and your colleagues to enjoy. Service takes place every Tuesday through Dec. 5 (closed Nov. 21). Menus are posted to both our Ellington鈥檚 website and the . We thank you in advance for your continued support as our students gain hands-on experience. No reservations required. Dining Dollars, Huskies Bucks and debit/credit accepted.
We need your brain!
The 麻豆精品 Speech-Language Hearing Clinic is conducting a study of the effects of COVID-19 鈥淏rain Fog鈥� on short term memory. Participants will be asked to complete a case history, hearing evaluation, tests of cognition, and a brainwave assessment. If you are 18-55 years of age and have normal hearing, are a native English speaker, and no history of drug/alcohol abuse, ADD/ADHD, learning disability, or other neurological disorder, you are eligible. The study will take about three hours and pays $60. Email Matt Wilson at mwilson@niu.edu to learn more.

New Victor E. Huskie statue to be unveiled during Homecoming
Huskie pride will remain on full display in downtown DeKalb even after this year鈥檚 116th Homecoming celebration with the unveiling of a new Victor E. Huskie statue.
Presented by FNBO, the statue will be unveiled at the corner of South Second Street and Lincoln Highway as part of the on Thursday, Oct. 12.

As a student, you get free admission to all Huskie Athletics regular season home events. All student tickets are claimed by the 麻豆精品 mobile ticket system. 麻豆精品's Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center鈥檚 inaugural is happening on Friday Oct. 27, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center. .
In a cross-divisional partnership between the Divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the conference will offer space to engage in powerful conversations that promote understanding, increase empathy and facilitate change in our community. Experience dynamic speakers and interactive sessions led by 麻豆精品's students, faculty, staff and community members. For more than a decade, the Send Silence Packing庐 display has traveled the country to end the silence that surrounds mental illness and suicide. Send Silence Packing encourages people to seek out resources for themselves, friends or loved ones. Trained professionals are on hand at each stop and thousands of mental health resources are distributed.
