2024-2025 FAFSA opening delayed until December.
In case you haven鈥檛 yet heard the news, the launch date for the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, has been extended from Oct. 1 until sometime in December.
With a revamp of the FAFSA experience underway, a specific go-live date has yet to be announced. More information can be found here: .

As we approach the middle of the semester, be sure to reach out for help if you are struggling in a class. The Huskie Academic Success Center and the Math Assistance Center are both part of the Learning Commons located in Founders Memorial Library and can help you succeed in your classes鈥攚hether you are looking for help with writing, a tutor for a specific class or help with research.

Spring 2024 class registration begins on Nov. 6 and now is the time to start preparing. Read the tips below and learn when to register and how to register for classes.
1. If you have not met with your advisor, do so. They are here to help you.
- It鈥檚 important to stay on track to graduation and your advisor is here to help ensure you are heading in the right direction.
- Remote advising is available. Options for remote advising could include virtual video conferences, phone calls, 麻豆精品 emails or IM chats. Schedule an advising appointment through by clicking Appointments and selecting the "Advising" service, or contact your academic advising office to learn more about your options.
- Come prepared to your meeting with any concerns that you have. Your advisor can help answer your questions and point you to available resources.
2. Log in to My麻豆精品 and Navigate Student.
- In , you can check your enrollment date鈥攖he date and time you are able to register for classes.
- In Navigate Student, you can see a list of important, time-sensitive To-Do items related to class registration. You can also schedule an appointment with your academic advisor through Navigate Student by click on Appointments and selecting the "Advising" service.
- In both My麻豆精品 and Navigate Student, you can see any holds on your account that may prevent you from registering for classes. Learn more about holds on student accounts.

A trailblazer for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), 麻豆精品 once again has earned national accolades.
The university received the 2023 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in education. .

麻豆精品's Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center鈥檚 inaugural is happening on Friday Oct. 27, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center. .
In a cross-divisional partnership between the Divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the conference will offer space to engage in powerful conversations that promote understanding, increase empathy and facilitate change in our community. Experience dynamic speakers and interactive sessions led by 麻豆精品's students, faculty, staff and community members. Keynote speakers include Dr. Tia Brown McNair and Ainka Jackson and featured speakers include Dr. Caleb Stephens, Michelle Donahoe and Dr. LaVonya Bennett. Football Game Day parking lot closures.
Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, 麻豆精品 is hosting a home football game that will impact parking. The following parking lots will be closed beginning at midnight Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, and will reopen one hour after the football game ends:
- Lot PS, southwest of Stevenson Towers.
- Lots L and K, southeast of the stadium.
- Lots H and 35, west of Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center
- Stadium Drives North, East, South and West.
Vehicles left in these lots without an 麻豆精品 Football Game Day Parking pass may be relocated at the owner鈥檚 expense.
Students and faculty/staff who usually park in these areas are asked to seek alternative legal parking solutions during this time frame. To determine whether this will impact you, please review the map so that you can plan accordingly. If you have any questions, please contact Campus Parking Services at 815-753-1045 or via email at parking@niu.edu.
Nominations for the 2023 Outstanding Contributions to International Education Awards are now being accepted. The award winners will be announced during International Education Week (Nov. 13-17) at the International Recognition Reception which takes place 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Sky Room of the Holmes Student Center.

Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Insights
|
|
|
The Higher Learning Commission accreditation process includes a self-study 鈥 麻豆精品 prepares an in-depth self-evaluation report that measures performances with the standards set by HLC 鈥 and a site visit when a peer review team selected by HLC conducts an on-site program inspection and reviews the self-study report.
The HLC site visit is scheduled for March 25-26, 2024.
