Proposals are now being accepted for our 119th Homecoming Grant Competition.
Do you have an idea for a homecoming event that you would like to see on campus, or want to enhance an existing homecoming event? The Homecoming Executive Committee invites all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to submit formal proposals for review! Our 119th Homecoming celebration will take place the week of Oct. 5 through 11, 2026. The deadline to submit a grant proposal is Friday, April 3, 2026.

Student Immunization Compliance Process Update
|
The Division of Student Affairs is now using to help verify students’ immunization documentation. Students can now submit their documentation directly to , and will follow up with them regarding any missing information. Starting June 1, 2026, students who are missing documentation will see a to-do list item within MyÂé¶¹¾«Æ· indicating that they haven’t yet completed this task. Reminder emails will also be sent starting June 1.
As this is a new system, questions, concerns and challenges may arise. Please email immunizationrecords@niu.edu with any questions, and feel free to direct any students you work with who may have questions to do the same. As a reminder, students taking six or more credit hours of on-campus classes are required to provide immunization documentation. For more information about immunization requirements and instructions for students on to use , please visit the Health Services website.

2026 AI Curricular Innovation Grants

Âé¶¹¾«Æ· faculty are invited to apply for the 2026 AI Curricular Innovation Grants, a competitive grant program supporting course redesign projects that thoughtfully integrate artificial intelligence into teaching and learning. This year’s program focuses specifically on AI-enabled course redesign. The grants will support faculty who wish to incorporate AI into course design, assignments, assessments or instructional practices in ways that strengthen student learning, engagement and career readiness.

University Grants Academy Is Now Accepting Applications for Spring 2027
|
The Office of Research Development (ORD) invites faculty to apply for the spring 2027 University Grants Academy(UGA) by 4:30 p.m., April 15, 2026.
UGA is a semester-long experience designed to increase faculty capacity to obtain externally funded grants. Participants develop a complete, submission-ready proposal for submission at the next available deadline and within six months of completing the program.

The Presidential Commission on Well-being proudly presents Âé¶¹¾«Æ·â€™s annual Well-being Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 16 in the Holmes Student Center’s Duke Ellington Ballroom.
Faculty, staff and students are all invited to attend and engage in a variety of free prizes, DIY self-care kits and opportunities to learn about your well-being. Campus and community partners will provide attendees with interactive activities, services and information focused on “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind and Healthy Spirit.†A release for staff will be granted and more information will be announced in the following weeks.

- Location: All weekly 9-hole rounds take place at Buena Vista Golf Course in DeKalb.
- Flexibility: While many play Tuesday afternoons, your team can play whenever your schedule allows.
- Team makeup: Teams of three to five players. Each team must include at least two Âé¶¹¾«Æ·-affiliated members(faculty, staff, students, alumni or retirees).
- Individuals: Solo players are welcome. Reach out and we will help match you with a crew.
- Awards: Compete for individual and team accolades presented at our end-of-season banquet.

In early 2026, Âé¶¹¾«Æ· welcomed Russ Devereaux as the new Director of Âé¶¹¾«Æ· Esports. Âé¶¹¾«Æ· Esports is an inclusive program that provides opportunities for students and community members of all backgrounds and skill levels to play video games together. Its mission is to build community and promote healthy gaming practices, while supporting new technologies in learning and research.
