Proposals are now being accepted for the 2024 Â鶹¾«Æ· Huskie Pride 117th Homecoming Grant Competition.

 

Do you have an idea for a homecoming event that you would like to see on campus, or want to enhance an existing homecoming event? The Homecoming Executive Committee invites all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to submit formal proposals for review! Homecoming will be October 13-20, 2024.

AI Researcher and AI Educator meet-ups

As AI becomes more prevalent, you are invited to join our idea-sharing sessions to identify expertise we have at Â鶹¾«Æ·, discuss ways to best use AI and learn about the impact AI is having and will continue to have on higher ed.

 

AI Researcher meet-up: (RSVP by Monday, March 25)

In-person: 10 to 11:15 a.m. Friday, March 29; Virtual: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2

This meet-up is designed to bring together faculty who are conducting research regarding AI or who are interested in becoming involved in AI research to form an AI scholar network at Â鶹¾«Æ· and foster collaboration.

 

AI Educator meet-up: (RSVP by Thursday, April 4)

In-person: 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 10; Virtual: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16

This meet-up is designed to bring together faculty who are integrating AI into the classroom or who are interested in identifying shared opportunities and challenges of AI in education and developing a network of support and collaboration.

Anywhere Prints Update Project

The Anywhere Print Update Project is continuing to roll-out this week with a heavy focus on public facing printers to across campus (though some departmental will be included in buildings where public printers are being deployed).

 

As this week’s roll-out will affect students to a larger extent, there will be a communication sent directly via student announcements when they return from spring break on March 18.

We also have one more open session where anyone can stop by and get an overview and ask questions from a trainer. It will take place at Founders Memorial Library on Thursday, March 14 from 1 to 3 p.m.

 

The current plan is still forecasting completion of the project by the end of March. has been created indicating what printers have been replaced and the estimated date for upcoming swaps.

Service Learning and Community Engaged Scholarship: Free Interactive Workshops

Are you interested in engaging the community in your research, or getting the most out of your service-learning projects?

 

Join us for free interactive workshops with engagement executive in residence Lina Dostilio, Ed.D., on Monday, March 18. Learn more and register for the following workshops:

Professor Dostilio is vice chancellor of engagement and community affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. She is also an associate professor of practice within the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations and Policy in the School of Education. Her research explores the community engagement profession in higher education and hyperlocal, place-based engagement.

Funding Available for Undergraduate Research &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

Submissions for the Student Engagement Fund (SEF) and the Research, Engagement and Academic Diversity (READ) grant for summer and fall projects are being accepted through April 2. SEF provides funding for students working on faculty-mentored research projects in all areas, while the READ grant provides funding for projects focused on closing equity gaps, social justice and diversity, and social innovation or social entrepreneurship with a view to improving social and/or cultural issues and inequities.  &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

 

Faculty can apply for stipends to pay up to three undergraduate student researchers and to cover up to $500 in project supplies per student. Access full details and apply today.

Healing and Reconciliation: A Dialogue with Bereaved Palestinian and Israeli Family Members
