How to Apply

You can apply if you have a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science, earth science, geography, geology or a related field. Outstanding candidates from other related fields with substantial course work in atmospheric science, earth science, geography or geology will also be considered.

You’ll apply through the Graduate School.

  • Fall: February 1
  • Spring: October 1

Your application materials will include:

  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals who have a professional or academic relationship with you and can describe your academic record and goals, as well as your ability to succeedin a graduate-level program.
  • Personal statement (400-600 words) that outlines your preparation for graduate study, your goals for graduate school and beyond, and why you believe our program can best help you meet those goals. We recommend mentioning at least one faculty member you would like to have serve as your academic advisor.
  • Resume/CV in PDF format indicating your professional and/or volunteer experience.

Assistantships

Curriculum and Requirements

Your program will include a customized plan of courses and an original research project. You’ll work with your advisor and committee to determine required courses based on your academic background and research interests.
